We are delighted to announce that we have completed our fundraise for Edinburgh-based golf tech specialist Shot Scope, with this investment forming part of the company’s $8.5m Series B round.
Ranked #7 in the 'Top 100 UK IP Companies in 2023' by the Intellectual Property League, Shot Scope has developed a multi-award-winning product range which delivers GPS, laser rangefinders and an array of software solutions to track players’ progress and identify potential improvements.
The company, which is already a major player in the UK with c.20% of the golf measuring device market, has secured this new funding to facilitate its international expansion plans and deliver its products to a growing global market.
Shot Scope is already expanding into Europe at pace, in addition to establishing a presence in Australia and New Zealand, and it is preparing for a major drive into the US market.
The Shot Scope management team have been laying the groundwork for this expansion, including building relationships with the likes of retailers and US media outlets. They have continued to make strong progress since this opportunity went live on our platform and their products are now available in some of the largest retailers in the US, including Dick’s Sporting Goods and PGA Tour Superstore.
The team will use this new funding to scale sales channels in this region, as well as in the UK and Europe, with the goal of helping more golfers improve their golf game.
Shot Scope CEO David Hunter – formerly an electronics design engineer who led the product design for blue chip technology companies in the UK and USA – is a passionate golfer who reduced his handicap from 16 to 5 using the philosophy that is now at the core of Shot Scope’s products and software.
Simon Emary, Director and Head of Portfolio at Growthdeck, says:
“For more and more golfers, tech like GPS and laser rangefinders are as important a part of their bag as their putter. Shot Scope is a UK market leader in what is a very fast-growing part of the SportsTech industry.”
“With a multi-award-winning, patent-protected product range that is primed for expansion into other markets, this funding will facilitate Shot Scope’s international expansion and Growthdeck is delighted to be playing a part in these growth plans.”
David Hunter says:
"This investment accelerates our mission to deliver game improvement technology to 60 million golfers around the world.”
"Golfers globally love our GPS, rangefinder and shot tracking technology, having sold products in 160 different countries worldwide in 2023."
“We have a passionate and skilled team of golfers and technology professionals at Shot Scope building game-changing products and software features that truly help the golfer improve.”
